Engaging with Students

This section covers small funds for engaging students outside the classroom and the practical side of hiring and paying student researchers.

Funds

• Course & Speaker Funds — the Speaker Fund ($100 honorarium per guest lecturer), the First Year Course Fund ($200 per FYC), and the Tom Leonard Fund (food and non-alcoholic beverages when hosting students), all administered by Academic Programs & Advising
• Collaborative Summer Research (CSR) — the college’s main fund for summer faculty-student research teams
• Student Research and Travel Fund — up to $700 for students presenting or conducting research; students apply directly through the student portal
• Department endowed funds — some departments have donor-restricted funds for student researchers; department chairs have information on these
